Winston Churchill: Prime Minister of Great Britian
Adolf Hitler: Dictator of Nazi Germany

the big three
- The Grand Alliance was an alliance made during World War II, which joined together the United States (led by Franklin Roosevelt), the Soviet Union (led by Joseph Stalin) and Great Britain (led by Winston Churchill). Roosevelt, Stalin and Churchill are often known as "The Big Three" or the Allies of World War II
- Adolf Hitler started World War II by invading Poland in 1939. Harry Truman ended it by using the atomic bomb against Japan in 1945. With these thoughts in mind:
- Do you think World War II would have taken place if Hitler had not come to power in Germany? Why or why not?
- WWII was caused by international economic conflicts, not by one insane man althought because he was seen as a hero in his time, people did listen and look up to him when he influences it. For starters, Germany and Japan were being squeezed, and Italy had gotten themselves a new Roman Emperor wannabe way back in 1922. WWII would still have been fought, but it would have been different. With a saner and more statesman-like leader at the helm in Germany, who knows how the conflict would have been resolved?
- In your opinon, was President Truman right in using the atomic bomb against Japan? Why or why not?
- One bomb is understandable, but to be completely honest Japan would have surrendered without bombs. The mass murdering (because that's exactly what it was) of millions of Japanese citizens was unnecessary! Would have been devastating if they bombed America and it was their families that were wiped out.
